Exam Cancellation

Registrants who cancel their registration prior to the registration cut off date may receive a refund for the exam registration fee, minus the exam cancellation fee. Cancellation requests cannot be honored once the registration cut off date has passed. Registrants who “no-show” for their exam will forfeit their exam and application fee. Cancellation requests cannot be honored after a transfer has been made.

Exam Rescheduling

Registrants may reschedule their exam date to another day within the same exam window up to 72 hours before the original reserved exam date at no charge. The Institutes’ members who wish to reschedule their exam date to another exam window may do so at no charge up to 72 hours before the original reserved exam date. Non-members will be required to pay an exam rescheduling fee to The Institute. Registrants may reschedule their exam date to another window only once; subsequent requests will be denied and will require the full exam fee. Transferring and rescheduling will not be permitted within the 72-hour window of your scheduled exam.

Exam Retesting

Candidates who do not pass the exam may re-test during the next test window (approximately six months), or any subsequent exam window. Full exam fees will be required. There is no limit on the number of times a candidate may re-test.

Renewal

The initial recertification will be due the first June 30th following two years after originally passing the exam. Subsequent recertification will be due every two years on June 30th of the reporting year. Recertification requirements along with the renewal fee must be received by the due date or a late recertification fee will apply. Prior to the recertification due date, notification letters are sent to all certificants who are scheduled to report in that year. This reminder will advise certificants of their expected standing at the two-year mark.

Late Recertification

Certificants who do not meet the recertification requirements by the appropriate due date may retain certification if a late recertification fee accompanies all other recertification requirements within 90 days past the due date. If payment is not made within this time frame, the certification will be inactivated.

Termination/Reinstatement

The Institutes’ Certification Committee has the power to deny, suspend, refuse renewal, or revoke certification for anyone who is found guilty of violating the Code of Ethics, the qualification requirements, or the recertification requirements.

If recertification requirements, and appropriate payment are not made within the three month time frame following the recertification due date, the certificant’s designation will be terminated.

Individuals may be considered for reinstatement of their designation by submitting a request/appeal, in writing, to The Institutes’ Certification Committee. If a reinstatement request is approved, the individual will be required to pay a reinstatement fee and agree to comply with all recertification requirements.
