Most organizations deal with undeliverable mail. Whatever the reason for return, it represents a costly, time-consuming task that is far too often completely manual. This session will demonstrate an automated approach to this task. The automated process analyzes the reason for the return of the mail pieces by scanning and identifying the undeliverable address and then doing a database lookup (Mainframe, Oracle, USPS etc.) for obvious corrections. It also can read the "NIXIE" label printed by the USPS and analyze the various undeliverable reasons, and code them as necessary. Often the envelope is opened and the contentsscanned so document classification can be performed to determine what type of mail was returned, and therefore, where to route the transaction. The process also includes updating the mainframe mailing database and other internal data.

Irrational enthusiasm in the early days of capture technology left many early adopters disappointed, but the truly transformational potential of enterprise capture is happening now. The technology foundation and the business developments are enabling advancement through the enterprise and are the facilitators to support a central truth: The closer capture is moved to the point of origination or transaction, the more value the enterprise can extract.
This session will trace the history of document imaging to its check-imaging sibling, and will show how organizations are able to achieve true transformation and increased value with enterprise capture.
Through several client examples, the session will not only provide a road map and a value proposition for capturing content at the point where the transaction occurs, but will also focus on how organizations achieved significant expense reduction, improved customer experience, and transformed business process — all while managing industry compliance and exceeding stringent quality and security standards.

For anyone who is evaluating the benefits of intelligent capture over basic capture, this session will lay out the details. Tennessee has kept excellent records of the system before and after the conversion and this session will reveal how they doubled throughput and lowered error rates. As always, there were lessons learned and key moments, making this a terrific session for learning what's new in high volume paper processing.
