Cloud-based business management software companies like NetSuite are aggressively pursuing market share in the heavily competitive arena of cloud computing. The company recently released findings of a study it sponsored showing three-quarters of business decision-makers who use the enterprise resource planning (ERP) technology of longtime provider Sage ERP report still being tied to desktop-based client software instead of being able to reach their information via the cloud.
YouGov, a professional research and consulting organization, conducted the study earlier in 2013. It questioned 531 ERP decision-makers in business with between 50 and 1,000 employees in roles ranging from CEO, to CFO, owners, vice presidents, and those with senior and middle-management roles.
For financial operations professionals who have successfully integrated cloud-based financials and ERP solutions in their everyday transactions, mobility has become key to better performance. NetSuite sees this as an advantage it offers over its competition.
With cloud technologies in vogue and AP and AR professionals on the watch for the next big thing, it is no surprise that newer companies like NetSuite are pushing so aggressively into the race against Sage, which has been providing business management software solutions for more than 30 years.
